Ameren is a public utility holding company. As of Dec. 31, 2003, the company provided energy services to more than 1. 7 million electric customers and 515,000 natural gas customers throughout its 52,700 square mile territory in Missouri and Illinois through its regulated subsidiaries, AmerenUE, AmerenCIPS and CILCORP. The company also operates Ameren Energy Generating Company, a non-regulated electric generating company with a total installed generating capacity of approximately 4,749 megawatts as of Dec. 31, 2003. The company has various other subsidiaries responsible for the short and long-term marketing of power, procurement of fuel, management of commodity risks and providing other shared services. |
